Girl's Soccer 2019 Important Information and Dates

Season Goals:
This is usually the place where you would see an expectation for a win/loss record.  If so, you came to the wrong place!  My goals for this season include team dedication to academics and responsible school behavior, a deeper understanding of the game, learning to work in a team environment, supporting teammates, and improving your individual skill in the sport.  If those ideals are embraced, the wins will follow!  This requires an individual commitment from every player that steps onto the pitch and the willingness to hold your teammates to that same standard.

Pre-Season Drills and Conditioning:
As you should all be aware, work in the off season is critical to success during the season.  If you are interested in surviving our first week, start your conditioning now!  For a general idea of things to work on, I have attached a basic Pre-Season Conditioning plan in the side panel of this page.  If you can push yourself harder than the plan calls for, you should!  Keep in mind that successful players are the ones who can put their effort into understanding the game and working on their skills, rather than having to work on their conditioning.  I have also attached a few YouTube videos of ball handling drills that you can work on at home.  Become as comfortable as possible with the ball at your feet!

Important Dates:
  • Pre-Season Conditioning should begin (if you are not involved in another sport): February 4th, 2019
  • First Day of Voluntary Practice (if you are in another sport you must talk to your coach first): February 11th, 2019 (Tentative)
  • First Official Practice: February 25th, 2019

Fundraising:
We will again be using Snap-Raise for our fundraising effort this season.  In an effort to devote as much time as possible to working on actual soccer skills, please begin collecting email addresses for family members or family friends who you think would be willing to donate to your effort.  Over the last couple of seasons, we have raised enough money to purchase much needed gear as well as receiving our Hudl account.  Let's keep the effort strong so that we can start working on things that help make your season more enjoyable!  Remember that the basic requirement is 20 emails!  Please have those collected ASAP so this process is successful and smooth.

Team Store:
I want to set up a Team Store so that you can buy individualized gear, especially for our cold weather practices and games and have it open in December so that anything you buy is already delivered by the time the season begins.  If you have any suggestions, please let me know soon so that we can get the gear designed in enough time!  Otherwise, you may have to deal with my taste in clothing...
