A Message from Mrs. Salberg!

Bennett High School

January 2021

Dear Families,

Dear Parents and Students,

Happy New Year!!

First and foremost, I would like to say thank you to our students, parents, and community members for all of their support during these challenging times. We are so fortunate to live in a community that rallies together whenever there is a crisis. Currently, our scheduled return date is January 4th and we are certainly looking forward to the time when we are together again. However, as we move forward with virtual learning, we cannot stress enough the importance of student engagement in both synchronous and asynchronous learning.

Please make sure you have looked at the return schedule for the week of January 4th. I sent an all call and the actual schedule is located in this newsletter.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Salberg

Here is what the start of Spring Semester looks like!

Families and students,

We will begin with remote learning for the week of January 4th. We will have a modified schedule of half days, just like we did for the week of Thanksgiving. 8:00-11:30am.

Class Time

  • Pride Time every day 8:00- 8:30
  • 1st (M/W) & 5th (T/Th) 8:30-9:30
  • 2nd Period every day 9:30-10:00
  • 3rd period every day 10:00-10:30
  • 4th (M/W) & 6th(T/Th) 10:30-11:30

On January 11th we will return to our cohorts in person and we will begin to phase movement into our schedule throughout the semester. Regular Day- 8:00-3:00pm.

Schedule Changes- We have done our best to put students in their preferred classes, however, if your student needs to make a change they need to let their Pride Time teacher know and they will inform the office. We will allow schedule changes through January 13th.

Updates moving into Spring Semester

Hotspots - At this time, we have hotspots available for student use. These are available to any student at Bennett Schools to use for the school year. If you would like to check out a hotspot, please contact the High School Office to complete the request form.

Attendance - This year is a year like no other in my 20 years of education. I know many students are struggling with distance learning, and I want nothing more than to have the students back on campus. Speaking for all of our staff, we miss having students on campus and in classrooms. With that being said it is important (and state law requires) that teachers make contact with students daily and students participate in all classes. We recognize that technology does not always cooperate. Please encourage your student to log into their classes on Zoom in a timely manner each day and encourage your student to participate to the best of his/her ability. As long as a student makes contact with the teacher, either through Zoom or a timely email that day, the student will be marked present. If you have any questions about your student’s attendance, please contact Mrs. Miller. Or, if you have concerns about attendance, please feel free to contact me. Moving into spring semester we will be activating our automated calling through Infinite Campus to help inform parents when their student is absent from class.

Tips for 2nd Semester!!!!

Looking forward to the new year and a new semester, we want to provide a few tips for making 2nd semester successful for your BHS student.

Tip #1- We have found that students being in the school, no matter what it looked like, tended to be more successful than students entirely remote. So if your student is able to be in-person 2nd semester we would love to have them.

Tip #2- Communicate with your student and their teachers. We are, often times, able to help a student quickly when a concern arises. We want every learner to be successful, so please let us know what we can do to support you and your student.

Tip #3- Ask questions! If you are confused about anything we need to make sure you have to correct information.

Tip #4- Check the school website, Seesaw, BHS app, and the district Facebook page for important updates.
