Students, Student-Athletes, Parents and Fans,
It is with a concerned head and a heavy heart that we have to push this announcement out to you. CHSAA levied a decision at 12:13 p.m. today March 12, 2020 to suspend all Spring Sports Activities including games, meets and practices until a minimum of April 6, 2020.
We must express that the email sent to us by the commissioner of CHSAA states that it may be a longer suspension of the spring season dependent on what state agencies determine the next course of action will be in regards to COVID-19. We know you've been listening to news sources and social media outlets but we wanted to make it official.
This goes into effect at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020. We are asking coaches to have practice tonight to announce this to all players. After tonight there will be no practices or physical contact with players until at minimum April 6, 2020. Communication is encouraged as many of our athletes will struggle with this news.
We are copying the official announcement from CHSAA to this email please read it and understand this is in the best interest for all our students and families as a whole.
This is a suspension only.  It is our hope that we will be able to re-schedule and play out our Spring season and as such, refunds will NOT be issued until an announcement is made on April 6th.
Thank you and we will all get through this together.

Commissioner’s Missive:

I would just like to “ Thank” the Board of Directors, membership, and the amazing CHSAA staff for your support and guidance. The collaborative decision making has been in the best interest of our students and school communities and that hasn’t gone unnoticed.

All spring sports and activities including practices will be suspended until April 6th to address concerns surrounding the on-going decisions with COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 spring sports season, speech tournament, student leadership Advisor U, are suspended through April 6th. All music festivals are cancelled through April 6th . Additionally, an outreach with the Colorado Athletic Director’s Association will be conducted remotely from the CHSAA office. The date will be communicated after the 6th.

The decision is effective as of Friday, March 13, 2020. The decision to continue competitions today as some tournaments are currently being contested will be a local decision, supported by our office. No spring sports, activities, competition or practices can be held until at least April 6th. The situation will be monitored and evaluated with key decision-makers from around the state to determine when, or if, to resume the spring season.

On Wednesday morning, I convened a digital conference with more than 50 administrators representing diverse levels of educational leadership to collaboratively create a plan. That group arrived at a consensus to support the decision made by the CHSAA office.

Further information about the spring sports season will be communicated via CHSAANow, when available.
